Meet Ashley!

Ashley Freiheit is a fourth-year Bachelor of Commerce - Fashion Management student studying at Humber College.

In high school, Ashley often participated in charitable events at school annually such as the Terry Fox Run and Relay For Life. She was also a member of the Stand Up, Speak Up Committee, aimed at creating a more inclusive and welcoming school community, See Different, a leadership program created to teach high school students how to promote diversity and inclusion as well as encourage social change, and the Count Me In Leadership Summit, a global student leadership summit.

With a business integrated high school diploma, Humber’s Business School was an exciting opportunity that merged both her commerce education as well as her interest in fashion. Coming from a small town in the northern GTA, Ashley moved to Toronto to further her studies and better immerse herself in her field. Over the past four years, she has worked within her school community to contribute to the campus, students, and the local community. Working with fellow classmates and faculty, Ashley helped start up the Sustainable Fashion Committee on campus to bring awareness to and promote sustainability within the fashion industry. She now sits as the Operations Manager on the committee.

In her free time, Ashley can often be found hiking with friends and family, exploring the latest events in the city, or cozying up on the couch with a good movie. With previous photography experience, you can often catch her bringing her camera with her on her adventures.

A message from Ashley:

“Growing up in a small community I learned from a young age how much of an impact as little as a day of volunteering can make. My mother always loved to contribute to local fundraising events and both of my parents believe in paying it forward, even doing something as simple as helping the neighbours shovel snow in the winter. While I packed up and moved to the city, my parents stayed back and continue to set an example and inspire me as I establish roots in a new community. While moving to a community exponentially bigger than the one I came from seemed frightening at first, using my campus and program connections to reach out and contribute has been an amazing experience.”
